April 28, 2008 update

Dad had his tracheaostamy and his peg this morning. The prodedure went well. His blood pressure dropped drastically after, but was soon stabilized with fluids. We've had a very serious conversation with the doctors. They've seen signs of digression and Dad's brain injury is very severe. The chance of him waking up is less than two percent. We had hoped that relieving the pressure from his spinal cord would allow his body to recover. He has showed no signs of progression. We truly appreciate all your prayers for a complete recovery, but now ask that your prayers be that God's will be done.

Against your request, my prayers have never been for a full recovery but for your family to have wisdom and comfort in any decision that you would be facing. I know that our Heavenly Father is aware of your situation and the difficult times ahead of you. Please remember that He loves you and He is in charge.

My prayer is that you will have comfort in the times ahead.

With love,

Melody Russell

What ever happens, what ever decision is made, our love and friendship will always be here.

Making decisions that effect those we love is not easy to do, but they must be made.

The love you share, the faith you have, the life you live, will all lead you to the choices that must be made.

Know that God has been with your family and he will be with you throughout. We pray that God holds you all in his hands, comforts you, and gives you the additional strength you will need.

None of this has been easy, but you have shown such strength. Just know that our hearts are aching with you and we are there with you in spirit and love.

Much love,
John and Nancy

As you wish, may God's will be done, and may you all have comfort whatever the course. We will include everyone in our prayers tonight.

I don't have any idea what you must be going through but I know it must be difficult. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Jen and I have shed many tears about Steve and you, his family. Andrew bore his testimony and talked of his love for Steven and the uncle that he was and for his encouragement he gave Andrew to get his Eagle. He said he never got the chance to tell Steve that he did get his Eagle. We hope to give him that chance this week. We are going to try and come see him this week.
We know that after your fasting and prayer(s), you will know what to do that will be best for Steven. Our Heavenly Father has a plan for him and for each of you.
May you be blessed from this experience and know that He is with you.
We hope to see you this week, if not then soon after that.

All of our love,
The N.O. Birds- Randy, Jen, Andrew, Henderson, Abby, and Isabella

I hate hearing this recent news regarding Steve. I have been praying for him to miraculously wake up and everything being okay all the while knowing how bad he really is. He was there for me and Dave when we lost Mark and we are here for you guys. Dave and I will pray for God's will to be done as you have asked. If you should need anything please let us know.

Dearest Southwicks'

I am so sorry to read about your husband and father's passing.
My little family wouldn't be where we are today if Verlon didn't have the faith to serve a mission, and goodly parents to raise and teach him to do so.
Steve was as fine a man as they come.
I will never forget his kindness and words to me as I spent my very first Easter without my children because of a divorce. I was at your home in Dietrich. To those of you who remember, I was crying in the bathroom Easter Sunday morning. There was a loud knock at the door and "big, gruff, burley Steve" gave me a hug and spoke words of wisdom to me that I carry with me to this day. I stopped crying, and thanked him.

I know you will miss him, but I believe with just one thought of him from any of you, he'll be right there to comfort you.

My Love Always,
Karen Corp Tebbs
