April 15, 2008 update

They are inserting a filter in the bloodstream close to the heart to catch any large blood clots that might break loose and cause problems. The procedure in similar to doing an angiogram. The filter is a little smaller than a stent. His temperature goes up and down and they are not sure of the cause. They have put support boots on his feet to provent drooping and heel sores. His surgery is scheduled for 9:30 Thursday morning, the 17th. He is still unresponsive, but stable. Please continue to pray for his complete recovery. Thanks so much. Love, Cheri and family

I was just sick when I heard about Steve's accident. I worked with "Bailiff Southwick" at the Lincoln County Courts as a deputy clerk starting in 1996 for 5 years. I always enjoyed working with Steve. He was always so encouraging and uplifting. I haven't personally seen Steve for a couple of years, But never have forgotten the fun times and memories in the court hearings, and not being able to look over at Steve for fear of laughing out loud in Court.
Steve, my prayers are with you for a complete and quick recovery and with your family for strength and peace during this time. You're a tough cookie and I hope to hear that you are up and smiling again real soon!

Steve, Cheri, and family,
I was so sad to hear about Steve's accident. He will be in our prayers as well. I too have many fond memories of Steve. I've always loved giving him and Mark a hard time. Steve has always been there with a kind word and hug through all the hard times I have been through, and I'm sure he will be blessed in return. I know our Heavenly Father lets us go through some pretty tough times, and sometimes it's really hard to understand why; but having endured some tough times myself, I can see that I have been blessed by these trials and come out a stronger person, and learned to rely on my Father in Heaven like never before.
Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

The residents and staff at Aspen Grove Assisted Living want the Southwick family to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. Wendy is a employee/friend here at Aspen Grove and we just adore her.

I love the picture of Trent and Gabriel. we are missing you all and praying that all will work out OK. We love you all.
What more can I say then you are the best dad a girl could have, even though you are a crazy buffoon. You had better get going soon cause Michael sent you one of his lightning Maqueen cars and he will want to play with you when we come up, though we aren't quit sure when that will be, but who knows, so you had better get with it Old Man!!!!!!!!!!

Holly, I can't believe that my brother Mike still has and plays with those Maqueen cars. We need to have a camera ready when he and Steve play together with them. WHAT A SIGHT!!!

I just read your blog and I am at a loss for words. You were a second family to me "way back when" and my heart and prayers go out to you now. I'm just remembering good times past: Steve singing in church, strong and clear, whether he sang the right words or not; always feeling special because I got the hug after family prayer but never had to have the "swat". May your music and the love of family and your great faith sustain you now, Steve, as you struggle through this physical challenge. My love to all of you! You are a very special family.
Prayers for you from Arkansas,
Wendy Staten
